When to give up hope
Updated: Jul 11, 2021
Was it just me or was last week so tiring? I felt like I was in a slog; all I wanted to do was jump back into bed and pull the covers over my head.
For the past year, we've been holding our breath, waiting for things to go back to normal. My way of coping was to stay busy; I took a full-time job while living in Germany with the mindset of staying productive and saving up until real-life can resume.
If you can relate, then you know how it's felt to put your life on hold for this long - it feels like you can't breathe. So I'm giving up hope for going back to normal soon. I'm done putting my life on hold and I'm moving forward now. In fact, I'm experimenting with a new business idea: an on-call coaching service, where people can get their career-related questions answered within 24-48 hours. The beta version is launching on March 14th and it'll be donation-based. Learn more on my Instagram @heyms.lee
Pause on that mindless hustle to unpause on the life that you've been wanting to live this past year. Sure, you can't travel or hang out with friends the way you want to, but that doesn't mean that all your needs should be on hold. Pull out that fancy outfit you were going to wear for a special occasion. Start that business idea you've been dreaming out. Buy that treat-yo-self item that you've pining over. Life is too damn short.
This month, I'm reading a timely book called Necessary Endings by Dr. Henry Cloud. He writes about when to know when you should keep putting in the effort, and when to call it quits, whether it's your relationships, your business, or your job. We're taught to believe that quitting equates to weakness which is total BS. Especially as womxn, we're told to be grateful for what we have and not ask for more. But you deserve more than just a "good enough" life - you deserve an abundant life. Even if that means that you have to leave some things behind to grow.
P.S. By being a Hey Ms. Lee email subscriber, you've been supporting this growing business and I appreciate you. I'd love to get to know you better.
